Dead Poets Society
June 04, 2014
Last night,
I was having the saddest tuesday night as a fangirl realizing that there's not Vixx Tv anymore.
So, I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
About 30 minutes in or so, I got bored and I stopped watching it.
I know the movie is good. We know The Breakfast Club is good. We KNOW John Hughes' movies are really really really good.
But, I was at my mourning state. I was down and really exhausted.
I just want a decent movie about teenagers who are struggling and hate their lives.
So, I found this movie.
And oh boy, what a great movie it was.
This movie about these smart boys who attend this elite school. They have their parents' expectations. They have their whole life ahead of them. They have burden to carry. They're basically robots.
But then, their senior year. This English teacher. He changes their lives forever.
This movie teaches me so much.
It give me the reason to think differently.
And it teaches me to be myself and care about myself.
It's makes me laugh and cry at 1 AM.
And I thankful.
My favourite character;
Neil Perry.
He is like the 'reason' why the society was recreated.
Neil is literally the good guy who have a bad life kinda situation.
He struggles a lot. He can't even say what he wanted to say. And he can't be what he wanted to be. His dad is a jerk.
It was sad seeing that way. He was such a good friend to them. He is confident. He is fragile.
Neil is such a good friend to his roommate, Todd.
Todd is basically the opposite of him.
Todd is constantly scare and never speak for himself.
Todd. Personally, I understand him. I'm having the same situation as him. I am scare and I have anxiety when I'm around people. But, people like Neil, I'm thankful that they're exist. It gives people like Todd and myself strength and bravery.
And then, we have Charlie.
The most awesome, sassiest person.
I can't say much about him but I like him a lot. He's bold and doesn't give a shit about people and he's funny.
And this hopeless romantic Knox;
When the story ended, I was crying the living hell out of me. It was so sad...
Words cannot express how I felt when watching this movie. All I can say is,
this movie is really good.
GO WATCH IT. GO WATCH IT!
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.
We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.
Medicine, law, business, engineering: these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love - these are what we stay alive for."
- John Keating - Dead Poets Society.
- Amni (I can't get over how good this movie is *sniffles nose*)
