The last time kdramas this lit was in 2012.

I spent a lot of my time this year watching Korean dramas than reading books like I don't why I just really enjoy a lot of kdramas this year than I did for the past few years.

Don't kill me because I don't read that much books...

So, technically saying, this post is gonna be hella long. But, not that long because I have a bad habit of starting a drama and never finish it. (Don't kill me)

P.s: I don't watch Descendant of the Sun, Doctors and The Legend of the Blue Sea (DON'T KILL ME)
because DoTS aired when I had my finals, I don't support love between teacher and students so I had a hard time watching Doctors, and I don.t....want... to watch Legend of the Blue Sea...

I don't specifically have a top five but I have a top five but I'm putting them at the end.

LEGGO!

Drama this year are so good because the male characters are evolving and the fact most of them doesn't fit the stereotypical main guy in drama stereotypes makes me so happy.

This drama is technically a 2015 released but I'm gonna put it in anyway:

Splash Splash Love



Y'all this drama is only two episodes but I WANT MORE I'M SO UPSET I WANT MORE.

Danbi is a senior high school student taking the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). However she has an irrational fear of maths, and in order to escape taking the test travels through a time portal to the Joseon era.

. Even it has two episodes, I still cried, laughed and being so emo throughout it. I just love how simple the storyline it, how GOOD the writers wrote in order to be correlated with the history (This drama is a special drama for history week, well, why not the history week were longer?!)

Petition for these two to star a drama together again. Such good chemistry these two had.





Is it me or does kdramas this year involved a lot about stories on Lawyers and Doctors?

Beautiful Mind



I AM SO MAD THAT THIS DRAMA DIDN'T GET THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES (Everyone was gassing over Doctors at that time,)

I watched it firstly because I LIKE JANG HYUK (he's such a good actor) and then, this drama just sucked me in.

Lee Young-O (Jang Hyuk) is an excellent neurosurgeon with zero sympathy. One day, he becomes involved in bizarre patient deaths. He also falls in love and recovers his humanity.

The medicals, the theories, the excellency of the main character are serIOUSLY INSANE. The main character doesn't have empathy and it had me shook how amazing he is.

There's one quote that I'll never forget from this drama;
"For me not having an empathy is a blessing. I don't feel sad, stress whenever I do my job as a neurosurgeon. I'm  doing a better job than most of people." - it goes something like that.

All the characters are not either good or bad, they're grey, they can be good and bad and for a person who watches kdramas for years, Beautiful Mind is refreshing to watch.

I'm pretty sure this drama have a cult following by now even it's not a famous drama. They're a lot of real life doctors who enjoyed this drama, which says a lot.





Entertainer



One word: EMOTIONAL

The first episode had me crying my eyes out.

Okay, I watched it first because I like Ji Sung (he is also a good actor) yet the storytelling, it's slow but understandable,  the challenges the character faced were sometimes so hard to watch but when you watch it, it's worth it.

I somehow find this drama almost true to what actually happening in Korean entertainment companies. It depicts on realism and struggles of day-to-day people and as a fan of kpop, I can see what the idols I adore faced.

The OST you guys, the OST is amazing. Also, every episode would have that one scene that's gonna make you cry. So, prepare tissues.





Lucky Romance



A true story: This drama came out in June and I've been waiting for it since January. I'm selekeh, I know.

I  L O V E  Hwang Jun Eun, she's my favourite actress in dramaland. That's why I was extra hype when they announced this drama.

The fortune teller tells Bo-Nui that there's only one thing that can save her sister. Bo-Nui must have a one night stand with a man born in 1986 - the year of the tiger.

Funny, doesn't drag, very beautiful chemistry between the actors, especially the mains, very ridiculous story-line but MADE SENSE. Funny.

I, as a person who is believer of superstitious, this drama kinda gets me in some way and the fact that it also depicts on mental illnesses, especially anxiety made me love it more.





Let's Fight Ghost



The main guy, Bong-Pal is hella cute and my intrinsic goals to be like him. He had enough allowance but spend it wisely, cooks, study, a good study. Also, he can see ghost, reason for his income.

Hyun-Ji  studied for most her life before she died at the age of 19. She is now a ghost and has wandered around the world for several years. Hyun-Ji then meets exorcist Park Bong-Pal. Hyun-Ji and Bong-Pal listens to various stories from ghosts and sends them to the otherworld.

Funny, adorable and absolutely full of fluff. A great drama to watch because how stress free it is.





Shopping King Louis



FLUFF. FLUFF. FLUFF.

I admit, Seo In Guk was ADORABLE in this drama.
The main guy is so simple minded you can't believe how simple minded he is sometimes which is hilarious and also cute.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo



I  L O V E  THIS.
Simple, a very passionate story of chasing your dreams.
Can we all agree that Joon Hyun is boyfriend GOALS, friend GOALS and SOULMATE GOALS?

Kim Bok-Joo is a promising collegiate female weightlifter. She has a bright personality and strong sense of justice. Kim Bok-Joo and her friends on the female weightlifting team are not popular with the guys and they don't have boyfriends.

Can we all appreciate how good Lee Sung Kyung of an actress she is (the main girl). Her as Bok Joo is so tough, sweet and simple minded in this drama. Remember her in Cheese in The Trap? agfhdakkaksdja





SCARLET HEART



I watched the Chinese version when I was a kid, but I couldn't stand it.

Wang Wok is my favourite and the writer did him dirty I AM SO SAD and Wang So, oh my godDDD.

I don't need to say much, this drama was so overhype the fandom is heartbroken now.

AMNI'S FAVOURITE KDRAMA OF 2016

Yes, I'm waiting for Hwarang yes, I already have favourites and boi LET ME TELL YOU.

On no.5, It's

Cinderella and Four Knights



I've watched the Taiwanese version as a kid (I was like 12?) but I stopped midway because the Taiwanese version, the main girl was damn irritating my 12 year old ass couldn't stand it.

But the THIS VERSION. Park So Dam also one of my favourite actress right now (she's in Beautiful Mind and I found her very pretty in Because it is The First Time so I am a fan.)

Contrary to the Taiwanese version, this one is much much MUCH MUCH better and made sense.
Simple story, all the guys in this show are  great characters and funny. The dialog between them are amusing and very addicting to actually watch repeatedly.

Cheese in The Trap.



This drama. THIS. DRAMA.
*Deep breaths*

This drama was announced on October 2015 and I've WAITED for three months for the first episode and God Almighty, what a great drama it is *forgets about the last two episodes because it doesn't exist in my dictionary*

I was pumped as hell because I wanted a kdrama centered around people my age (college kids) and this drama came into my life.

I've only read a few chapters on the webtoon it based on because I was hype.

Things I love:
a) Centers around college kids
b) It's relatable
c) The MAIN GUY. THE. MAIN. GUY.

The main lead, Yoo Jung is one of the most well written, complex character I've watch in a drama. He would be in Slytherin if he was in Hogwarts.

A lot of people like the second lead pfttttt nOT ME.
I get it that a lot of drama viewers found Yoo Jung creepy but I didn't. Park Hae Jin as an actor brought the character Yoo Jung to life for me.

Also, Kim Go Eun (also, one of my favourites), as Seol is AMAZING.
Actually, this drama would be in my top three if the WRITERS DIDN'T SCREW IT UP.

Still a great drama to watch.

 Beautiful Gong-Shim


OHHHHH MY GOSSSHHHH.
Thinking about this drama already made me giggle. Ahn Dan Tae effect.

Hella funny. This drama is so funny it made my heart hurts on how funny it is.
Also, D A N  T A E.

I mean he's not my type but after watching this, Dan Tae is kinda my type, despite his awful fashion sense. He and Gong Shim are like ultimate couple yang sememeh goals. So funny that I'm happy.

Beautiful Gong Shim definitely have a very special place in my heart, I literally watching every episode at least two times.





2) SIGNAL



I didn't hype this show in social medias because I marathon it at midnight and finished it the next morning.

Amni Suhana memang sucker for cop shows since 97. Gerak Khas, NCIS, CSI, Law & Order, Documentaries, you name it. Amni sudah nonton.

So, if you show me a cop show that plays with time, a cop show about a boy who's trying to solve a murder case that he witnessed by growing up to be a cop, would make Amni Suhana turned cray and watching it right away because she's crazy.

This show: A+

The storyline, the settings, the characters; ASTONISHING.

1) G O B L I N




Kesah pulak aku cerita ni tak habis lagi. NI TETAP NO.1 AKU.

When this drama announced on November, I turned crazy and spent my days waiting.

Aside from cop shows, Amni Suhana also enjoys  learning about Gothic creatures. So when Goblin, a story about a cursed Goblin who's trying to find his bride in order to end his immortal life, Amni's heart died in joy. The drama also have stellar casts, starring Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wok and Kim Go Eun, Amni, turned crazy.

I'm so excited for this drama I literally keep thinking about it each time weekend is near, I think this drama at work, during writing this, each time of the day, I'm thinking about this drama because I'm honestly really in love with it and I hope it has a reasonable ending and doesn't end up like Cheese in the Trap. (TvN, I see you).






Welp, I guess. That's it.

I hope I'm not this dense next year. I need to read more books and do art more often than watching dramas but this year's dramas are all outstanding I just can't
